Before we arrived in Idaho Alyssa and I explored Yellowstone and Jackson Hole the day before. We were hoping that we would be able to stay a night in Jackson Hole Wyoming for the night but to our surprise all the hotel rooms were either booked or very expensive and all the campgrounds nearby were taken. We continued on the way to Idaho hoping to find a place to stay the night. Everything was taken and we were left out in Driggs with still no where to park and sleep. I knew Rexburg was an hour away and was almost sure that there would be a hotel or a campground near there and were surprised to see everything taken. When we arrived in Rexburg around midnight we barely made it to the Walmart to brush our teeth and go the bathroom before they closed. So we slept at the Walmart in Rexburg. Thankfully the weather was cool and made it nice to sleep.
The next day we went out to R Mountain which is an old volcano that has a big R on it. It was quite a steep hike and the first true hike that we had done since doing the Grand Canyon. It took us a good couple of hours to hike up to the rim and then hike around the whole rim. The views were amazing, you could see all the way to the Tetons in the far distance. After hiking we went back into town and saw my Cousin Karilyn and her husband Blake along with their kids, Caden, Eli, and Hudson. We got to stay with them for a couple days. We finally got to shower after a couple days of sleeping in the Prius or Tent. We later found out that Brittany Pinchak, our friend, was living in Rexburg and we got to take her out to dinner at The Hickory and some dessert at Carrie Ann’s Gelati.
The following day we stayed at Blake and Karilyn’s playing with their boys and doing some blog updates. It wasn’t until around lunch time that we decided to go get some sub sandwiches from Millhollow Frozen Yogurt and Sandwiches. They are still just as delicious as they were when I attended school at BYU-Idaho. After lunch Alyssa and I went shopping for her at Downeast since they have a great selection of modest clothing that Alyssa really likes. It’s a shame they took it out of the Irvine Spectrum. Once Alyssa got all the outfits that she wanted we made our way to Idaho Falls to met up with my old roommate Justin and his Wife for dinner at Garcias. Garcias was the best Mexican Restaurant that I’ve eaten in Idaho and it was super filling. We also explored a little bit of Idaho Falls by visiting the temple and taking pictures of it. It wasn’t currently open due to renovations but it sure was beautiful. After dinner we went back to Rexburg and stayed up and made Italian Sodas, they were quite delicious and very sugary. We found out that there was a meteor shower that night and got to stay up with Blake and Karilyn’s family watching the meteors from their trampoline. I think we were out there for about an hour watching several streaks run across the night sky. Some of them were really bright even with the full moon being out. We would have stayed out longer but we were leaving the next day.
